Schmartboard is a small, nimble company. We all wear many hats and are all involved in pursuing our mantra of "Electronic for Everyone". To this end, we do think out of the box. Inventing and perfecting our "EZ" solder technology required that we looked at electronics from a different perspective.
One of the benefits in working the way that we do is that we do not lose touch with our customers. We have a personal relationship with many of our online customers and even have a list of users that we call on for input and advice. This is the reason that we even take online orders at our website rather than just have everything sold through Mouser Electronics, Frys Electronics, Radio Shack and the other distributors who carry our line.
We recently found ourselves in a situation where we had to move. We could have moved into a high tech industrial park as would have been expected. However an opportunity arose and we took a chance on another out of the box decision.
Today is Schmartboard's first day working out of 37423 Fremont Blvd., in Fremont CA. Fremont has it's share of technology companies such as Tesla Motors, Boston Scientific, Lam Research, Western Digital, Seagate and the famous for the wrong reason Solyndra. We however are not in south Fremont, where these companies are located. We are instead a retail storefront in the Centerville district surrounded by Afgahni restaurants, hair salons, and other main stream businesses.
We did this not to sell more Schmartboards direct. We are here to be even more accessible. We want customers to come in and talk to us. Tell us what we should do next; Allow us to be of service on your next PCB design or assembly, let us work with you to design your cable harness. Feel free to come and visit. We are here to listen.
Sometime in September, we will have an official grand opening with discounts, prizes and some other surprises. I hope we see you soon.
